However, the challenging hurdle in the sample preparation for PY-GCMS is to homogenize the polymer samples, which would determine the reproducibility of the following sample runs. As the rule of thumb for PY-GC-MS, more homogenized samples would yield more reproducible data. Among various homogenizers, cryogenic ball mill has been proven to be a powerful tool in homogenizing thermally sensitive and elastic polymers. CDS Analytical has designed an economical and ready-to-use cryo-mill solution for such applications. Product Features Product Features Ball Grinding at -196 °C The CDS Analytical's cryo-mill adopts ball grinding technique and allows the sample to be pre-cooled by liquid nitrogen to -196 °C High Throughput The cryo-mill supports up to 4 sample jars. Each sample jar could host up to 5 grams of sample. Vertical Oscillation The cryo-mill could generate up to 70 Hz oscillation on the sample jar vertically to bring strong impact for effective sample grinding. 5 micron Final Fineness The sample jar could accommodate sample size less than 8 mm in diameter, and yield a final fineness up to 5 micron. Built-in Method The cryo-mill has a user-friendly interface with built-in method designed for Py-GC-MS applications. Safety First The cryo-mill has multiple safety features built-in, including an automated locking mechanism when the cryo-mill is not balanced. Product Features 110 Position Autosampler The autosampler comes with a high capacity of 110 positions for 40 ml VOC vials in one sample rack. Sample code is supported in the software. Internal Standard Addition CDS 8500A autosampler adopts a unique EPC controlled manifold to precisely inject a user-select volume (1/2/5/10/20/25μL) of internal standard into the sample from 4 channels. High Precision Syringe The 8500A autosampler uses a 25 mL high precision syringe to drive the sample flow, and delivers a variable sample volume from 0.1 mL to 25 ml with a use-select sample dilution ratios from 1:1/1:2/1:5/1:10/1:20/1:50/1:100, which supports the automated sample calibration. Dynamic Headspace The 8500A is equipped with a soil cup for dynamic headspace sampling in compliance with EPA 8260 soil samples. The max temperature is 150°C for routine Dynamic Headspace applications. Water Station The water sample and soil sample are using its dedicated sampling station and needle without worry of cross-contamination. Magnetic Stirrer The magnetic stirrer drives the magnetic bar in the soil vial based on EPA 5030 and 5035 sampling requirement for soil samples. PEEK Sample Pathway The chemically inert sample pathway guarantees the success of your purge and trap testing even with challenging liquid samples. Powerful PC Interface The PC software has a friendly interface to configure each run with programmable rinses, programmable blanks, internal standard addition, and water addition to soil sample. Soft Draw Gripper The highly versatile vial gripper has a 4 soft draws to offer the maximum compatibility and reliability to transport glass vials from various manufacturers. Our extraction cartridge incorporates C18 (Octadecyl) standard density sorbent particles with PTFE to create a mechanically stable sorbent disk secured in a syringe barrel. An Empore extraction disk is secured in place at the bottom of each cartridge with a sealing ring and a proprietary prefilter is placed above the Empore disk. This prefilter aids in preventing particulates and macromolecules from reaching the underlying membrane and improves the flow of biological samples, such as serum and plasma, through the cartridge. Empore™ Disk Cartridges are an innovative alternative to packed column technology. Each cartridge is molded from a polypropylene resin. The dense particle packing and uniform distribution within Empore disks offer outstanding sample preparation efficiency and reproducibility of results. Since the diffusion distance between particles is minimized, adsorption is more efficient, and extraction can be accomplished using low sorbent mass. Our Standard density (SD) membranes for all silica based sorbent chemistries allow reliable sample preparation for challenging sample matrices. The standard density membrane has been optimized for improved flow rates for samples processed in most bioanalytical applications. Our high density (HD) membrane formulation is effective for minimal elution volumes. The high density membranes are designed for maximum extraction efficiency with minimal elution volumes of samples that have less matrix interference. Empore membranes efficiently extract samples with no channeling. The small bed volume allows compound elution from Empore cartridges in as little as 100-200 µL of mobile phase or mobile phase compatible solutions. Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) is a procedure where an analyte is isolated and concentrated from a liquid sample. It is also described as a clean-up procedure that prepares the analyte prior to analysis so that the desired sensitivity range of an analytical method can be obtained. Analytes are isolated from complex mixtures by proper selection of a variety of sorbent chemistries (reversed phase, mixed phase, normal phase, and ion exchange). The analyte, or component itself, is the material or chemical element for which the analytical process is focused.
