Automated Solvent Extraction

LabTech CDS Analytical’s (LTCDS) solvent extraction instrument line features automated solutions for solid phase extraction (SPE) and high-pressure solvent extraction (HPSE). Both extraction methodologies specialize in extraction of semi-volatile organic compounds from liquid, semi-solid, and solid samples. SPE is an extraction method universally used across various industries, including environmental, food, proteomics, and biopharma industries. Among LTCDS’s instrument options, the automated SPE line features the SPE2000 and the AutoEmpore. The SPE2000 embodies a high sample throughput option for cartridge-based SPE making it perfect for applications in the environmental and food industries, including analysis of PFAS related components. On the other hand, the AutoEmpore accommodates both disk and cartridge-based SPE and is well-suited for large volume samples. In total, SPE is the extraction method of choice in more than 18 different US EPA methods. While LTCDS provides the automated instrumentation, LTCDS is also the manufacturer of the SPE consumables, including disks and cartridges, that can be used in combination with the instruments.

In addition to the SPE instrumentation, LTCDS also provides automated HPSE solutions for solid and semi-solid samples that traditional SPE would not be able to process. HPSE applies both high pressure and high temperature to the sample in order to improve the extraction efficiency of semi-volatile components from samples in the environmental and food industries, including for PFAS. The LTCDS HPSE product line offers the capability to process between 2 and 6 samples in parallel. Between the SPE and HPSE products lines, LTCDS provides complete coverage for extraction of semi-volatile components from every type of sample matrices.
