- 254 Extraction of THC Metabolites in Urine using the Empore™ Membrane C18 Extraction Cartridge
In this application note, the Empore membrane solid phase extraction cartridge is used to extract THC metabolites from urine samples as part of a routine sample preparation procedure. Specifically, the THC-COOH metabolite was quantified as part of this method. Cannabis
- 258 Thermal Desorption Analysis of Essential Oil Emissions from Common In-Home Diffusers
This application note demonstrates a method for sampling and analyzing VOC emissions of essential oils from in-home diffusers. As part of this work, VOC emissions from three different popular types of essential oils were examined. Additionally, one ultrasonic diffuser and two-nebulizing diffusers were selected to compare emissions output of VOC’s for a specific lemon essential oil. For the most abundant VOC in lemon oil, limonene, the emitted concentration was determined for the ultrasonic diffuser and one nebulizing diffuser. 7550S Fragrance Environmental Food and Flavor
- 257 Thermal Desorption Analysis of Asphalt Binder Samples Contaminated with Automotive Fluids
This application note demonstrates a method for using thermal desorption as a way to screen asphalt binder samples for the presence automotive fluids. Automotive fluids such as gasoline, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and motor oil are added to asphalt samples to qualitatively identify the presence of VOC’s. 7550S Thermal Desorption Environmental Automobile

- 251 Detection of Herbicides in Water by Sample Preparation with Empore™ SPE Cartridges and LC-MS/MS
CDS Empore™ SDB-XC and C18 SPE cartridges are used to extract trace herbicides in water samples. This method is made environmentally-friendly, with the help of the Empore™ SPE cartridge, by eliminating methylene chloride and greatly reducing organic solvent usage during the elution step. The extracts were then quantified via LC-MS/MS analysis. Environmental

- 246 High Throughput SPE of Pesticides and Flame Retardants in Drinking Water with EPA 527
CDS Empore™ (formerly 3M™ Empore™) EZ-Trace is an extraction system allowing for simultaneous extractions and significantly reducing preparation time of multiple samples. This application note demonstrates the performance of the EZ-Trace using the Empore™ SDB-XC disk under EPA Method 527.1 for reagent grade water samples. The recovery is determined for 26 analytes, consisting of pesticides and flame retardants, and demonstrates that the Empore™ EZ-Trace system provides a clean and efficient extraction with the Empore™ SDB-XC disk.
